This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit, submit feedback, or upload a document to https://doctranslator.com/ (the "Site").

PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as "Device Information."

We collect Device Information using the following technologies:

• "Cookies" are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. For more information about cookies, and how to disable cookies, visit https://allaboutcookies.org.
• "Log files" track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
• "Web beacons," "tags," and "pixels" are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site.

Additionally when you make a contact form submission from the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, email address, and IP address. Additionally when you upload a document to the Site, we collect certain information from you, including whatever personal information may be contained inside the document. We refer to this information as "Provided Information."

When we talk about "Personal Information" in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Provided Information.

HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

We use the Provided Information that we collect generally to fulfill any feedback or support request. Additionally, we use this Provided Information to: Communicate with you; Screen our users for potential risk or fraud; and When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services. We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

THE DOCTRANSLATOR APP FOR IPHONE AND IPAD

This section describes the personal information the DocTranslator app for iPhone and iPad collects and what happens to it. It applies to the app and to the servers it connects to, including dashboard.doctranslator.com. Where it differs from other parts of this Privacy Policy, this section governs the app.

What we collect. Your name and email address when you create an account, the documents you upload for translation (their text, images and file names, and any personal information they contain) together with the two languages you choose, a record of your App Store purchases so that your plan or balance works in the app, and the device token used to deliver push notifications. When you create an account we also record your IP address, the country it belongs to and the type of your device. When the app connects to our servers, they record your IP address and technical logs of its requests.

How we collect it. You enter your account details and choose each document yourself in the app. The app sends a document to our servers only when you start its upload.

How we use it. Your documents are used only to provide the service: to count their pages, show you the price and a preview, translate them and give you the translations. Your account details are used to keep your account and your purchases, the device token to send you push notifications, the country and the type of device for our own statistics about our users, and IP addresses and logs to keep the service running and to find and fix errors.

Who translates your documents. Documents you translate with AI in the app are translated by DocTranslator's own AI translation service, which we developed and run on our own servers. When our service cannot translate a document — a language or file type it does not cover, or a result below our quality threshold — the document's text is translated by Google Cloud Translation, a service of Google LLC, which processes it only to return the translation, under Google Cloud's data processing terms. No other company's AI or translation service receives your documents.

Human translation. The app also offers a human (professional) translation. Only when you order one, or ask a translator to call you about one, and only after you agree in the app each time, we send the document you chose, its two languages and the options of your order to our partner Translation Services USA, whose professional translators translate the document and, when you ask for it, certify and notarize it. When you ask for a call we send them your phone number and the time you prefer, and when you order a printed copy we send them the postal address you enter. They use this information only to prepare, deliver and support your order, and the finished translation comes back to your DocTranslator account and email.

Service providers. We use service providers to store documents, to deliver push notifications, to find the country of an IP address and, through Google Cloud Translation (see Who translates your documents), to translate a document our own service cannot. App Store purchases (plans and AI translations) are handled by Apple. A human translation is paid by card on a page run by our payment provider Stripe, which receives your card details and your email address; we do not see or store your card number. Each provider is bound by its terms with us to protect your information at least as well as this Privacy Policy does, and to use it only to provide its service to us.

How long we keep documents. On the free plan documents are deleted about 24 hours after upload. On a paid plan they are kept while your subscription is active, and for 30 days after it ends. You can delete a document at any time in the app's Files tab, and you can delete your account in the app (Account, then Delete account).
